Performance Art, GOP 'Acts' Enraged While Praying Prosecutor Saves Them
One last chance at someone saving them from themselves
Ted Cruz challenges anyone to be angrier than him at any given moment, but deep down he’s angry that the GOP is destroyed unless Trump is destroyed.

Have no doubt Republicans don’t like investigations of anyone on their side, and there are some of them who worry that a possible January 6th charge against Trump will touch upon them. But we can be sure that the vast majority of Republicans in and out of Congress are thrilled that a special counsel has evidence of a nice, clean, damned serious felony (Top-Secret SCI files) that nearly compels prosecuting Donald Trump on that charge at a minimum. (We cannot assume indictments, but we can assume that many in the GOP hope that at least a few are coming.) Indeed, this week, most Republicans are both acting enraged while also inwardly giving thanks that someone might deliver the gift that they most wanted for Christmas. DOJ’s special counsel Jack Smith and his team may do something Republicans couldn’t possibly pull off themselves, get Trump out of the 2024 race for president.
Some are not acting. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (Suddenly perhaps the most powerful member of the House), Ron Johnson, Matt Gaetz, and the usual Mar-a-Lago crowd are not acting. They are furious, and they are scared. If they lose Trump, they lose their meal ticket. But some of the lifers, Cruz, Jordan, Graham, they’re not mad, but they must appear as though they’re raging on the edge of sanity.
You might think that would be a tough trick to pull off, but this Fox-honed reaction is reflexive now and is considered an entry-level requirement to modern MAGA-America First. You saw the candidates.
The easiest means to appreciate why the GOP wants Trump indicted with damned serious evidence and a damned serious crime is to ask yourself to imagine what it would be like if Trump loses the GOP Primary and - in such a case - whether, under any circumstances, Trump would allow his victor to win the general election and become president. It is just as appropriate to ask how they will feel if Trump wins the primary. There is near universal agreement among Republicans that he would lose the general election. You have already identified the problem but follow below for a quick trip through the GOP’s greatest hopes:
The GOP’s “no-win” situation took years to build. They could have cut it off with a post-election impeachment back when the majority of Americans and even a majority of Republicans could likely “live with” a guilty verdict in the Second Impeachment. Seven Republicans found Trump guilty in the second impeachment, only ten short, and they wouldn’t have the problem they have on their hands.
Again: Problem One, Trump runs for the nomination, wins, and - the consensus from the Republicans, as evidenced by the midterms, has no chance of winning the general election. The primary would involve the Republican party tearing itself apart with Trump’s furious destruction of the others. A general election defeat would have down-ticket implications, too. Perhaps giving the House back to the Democrats along with keeping the Senate despite a Senate map that is decidedly against the Democrats.
Problem Two: Trump loses the primary. Trump never loses (Ask him), and thus, Trump will find a way to “win” in the end. In this case, it would necessarily involve total destruction of the party that rejected him while also probably running as an independent, splitting the ticket, again ensuring a loss.
Solution? Help from sane Democrats. Some of us are still upset that DOJ didn’t just do its job and either indict Trump or not. But if special counsel Jack Smith can charge Trump (quickly) with a serious enough crime, like espionage, one in which the complaint itself is stuffed with facts that practically convict Trump on paper, it is possible that Trump will come up with a “health issue” that keeps him from running, in order to focus on defending himself.
So when you see this. From Fox News you know that it’s just… performance art.
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Tex., called the timing of the special counsel's appointment problematic given that Trump had just announced his third run for the White House.
Three "days ago, Trump announced and now [there is] a special counsel," said Cruz. "This is Trump derangement syndrome but this time with a gun and badge.
Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., similarly said that the DOJ appeared to be more "politicized and weaponized" than at any point in American history.
House Judiciary Committee Republicans tweeted: Jack Smith and his buddies have been politicizing Washington for AGES. And he's who AG Garland picked to be the special counsel to ‘investigate’ President Trump? Come on,"
There is more, and, of course, people like Marjorie Taylor-Greene are dead serious, but you get the idea. The GOP couldn’t rid itself of Trump. They’re now relying on the Democrats to do it for them (highly symbolic). Of course, outwardly, the GOP is outraged. But don’t buy it for a second. They are dearly hoping that Trump is taken out of the equation and they can run other, perhaps even further Right, candidates in 2024, candidates that might win, candidates that might be effective in office.
Tomorrow they give thanks for the opportunity. They have already told Santa what they want in their stocking for Christmas; United States v. Donald John Trump…

VERY SHORT, VERY ANGRY, VERY SAD
TWO MASS SHOOTINGS SINCE THE LAST NEWSLETTER
The last newsletter was published two days ago and written three days ago. That means “Colorado Springs” and the Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia both occurred within writing the last two newsletters/articles.
This is the only nation on earth where this regularly happens, and yet we’re told that the 2nd Amendment makes us safer.
The SCOTUS now has a doctrine in which one person’s freedoms under the 14th Amendment must cede to other people’s rights to practice their religion. At what point does our First Amendment Right to freedom of Assembly “trump” a Second Amendment right to be armed in public?

SHORT THANKSGIVING WISH
I want to thank all of you for helping me build this site. We are growing slowly - which is how it goes. I have a nice core group that never misses one. Thank you. I am thankful for my daughter, my health, the fact that I get paid (tiny) amounts to do what I love, and my daughter, which is all I really need. Thanks for your messages, encouragement, and donations that can be sent to Venmo @Jason-Miciak every little bit helps, and I would give special thanks.
As always, we finish with the beach, which I dream of writing from someday after mastering the financials.
