Seriously? Oh, God - yes, seriously.
Rep. Bob Good (R-VA, MEGA MAGA) spent valuable time on the floor of the House of Representatives today arguing against renewing the Family Violence and Prevention Services program because… it would insert gender identity into the U.S. Code, which is ironic. Why would he care about what’s in the U.S. Code when he says all we need are “God’s laws.”
Good was silent as to whose God we would use and which particular laws we might pick out. It is a bit complicated because there would be some technical issues to work out, such as the 13th Amendment conflicting with certain tenets of the Old Testament. Regardless, things are going downhill fast because your neighbors’ happy marriage is setting fire to what was once a prosperous and tranquil nation [if you were white, prosperous, and tranquil].
"My colleagues on the other side claim they want to protect the family but instead they've chosen to attack the very bedrock of our country, the moral principles and the traditional family that hold our families and communities together…
"In fact, nearly everything that plagues our society can be attributed to a failure to follow God's laws for morality and his rules and definition of marriage and family,"
Sweet baby Jesus trying to read the rules, really? He is speaking of family law created by God back when you could sell your daughter, which puts a new twist on family “values.”
Here is what I think plagues some of this country; politicians that worry more about gay marriage than violence within a marriage, of any type. In fact, I seem to recall Jesus saying something about violence, “blessed are the non-fighters” or something.
So we ask again, Rep. Good, whose God?
